St. Martinville – Mrs. Veronica “Love” Narcisse, 55, formerly Veronica Ann Batiste, a native of St. Martinville and a resident of St. Martinville for 55 years, died at Iberia Manor North Nursing Home on April 30, 2012, at 9:12 p.m.

Mrs. Narcisse was a seamstress at Action Specialties.

Funeral services were on Saturday May 5, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Notre Dome Catholic Church.

A rosary was recoted at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Interment followed at Queen of Peace Cemetery. Rev. Augustine Seran, SVD officiated the services.

Mrs. Narcisse is survived by her husband, Lionel Narcisse Jr.; her mother, Serena B. Joseph; four daughters, Terry N. (Brian) Fontnette, Darcina N. (Elton)Touriac, Darcianna Narcisse and Bliss Narcisse; seven brothers, Warren Michael Batiste, Ronald Batiste and Lester Batiste, all of St. Martinville, and Tommy Batiste, Bobby Joseph, Warren Jones Jr. (Jennifer) and Steven Jones(Cheryl) all of Houston, Texas; six sisters Debra Williams (Larry) of St. Martinville, Mary Elizabeth (Armand) of Rochester, N.Y, Mary Christine (Ivan )Jackson and Toni Joseph, both of Houston, Texas, Bennie Alexis (Edward) of Dallas, Texas, and Brenda Landry (William) of New Iberia; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Narcisse was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Gussie Ester; grandmother, Lena Batiste; sister-in-law, Mary Dugas-Batiste; a niece, Treveya Joseph; and a nephew, Kevin Oppenheimer Jr.

Pallbearers were Larry Williams Jr., Jalen Joseph, Ryan Jones, Doran Malveaux, Corey Malveaux, Alonzo Narcisse, Cleveland Morris and Joseph Tyrone Schannette.

Honorary pallbearers were Warren Michael Batiste, Ronald Batiste, Lester Batiste, Tommy Batiste, Bobby Joseph, Warren Jones Jr. and Steven Jones.

Golden Meadows Funeral Home of St. Martinville was in charge of the arrangements.
