The engagement of Miss Abby Rae Soileau to Mr. Jacob Paul Ortego, the son of Shawn and Lorise Ortego of Ville Platte, has been announced by her parents, Timothy and Wendy Soileau of Ville Platte.

The couple will exchange wedding vows Friday, May 29, 2009, during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte.

Miss Soileau, whose mother is the former Wendy Compton of Ville Platte, is the granddaughter of Rodney and Eloise Soileau and Tommy and Lana Compton.

A 2006 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Ville Platte, she will receive an Associate of Science degree in radiologic technology from LSUE in May 2009. She plans to specialize in nuclear medicine at Delgado in New Orleans.

Mr. Ortego’s mother is the former Lorise Fontenot of Ville Platte. He is the grandson of Clevan and Leola Ortego and Clayton and Lydie Fontenot.

A 2003 graduate of Vidrine High School, he received a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in December 2007. He is currently employed in Lafayette and plans to further his education by obtaining a master’s degree in criminal justice.
