Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2012, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Miranda Perioux Blanchard, 55, who passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012.

Fr. Richard Fabre officiated at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures were read by Cathy Boutte and Jackie Gooch. Gift bearers were Cole Blanchard and Kelsey Richard.

Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Miranda graduated in nursing from U.L. of Lafayette in 2008, an accomplishment in which she and her family were extremely proud of. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Miranda had immense compassion and loved helping others who were in need. She loved cooking for her family and in her free time she was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Allen Joseph Blanchard of Catahoula; two sons, Cory Blanchard and his wife Marcy of Arnaudville, and Casey Blanchard of Catahoula; a daughter, Kayla Garritt and her husband Rickie of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Ricky Perioux and his wife Nancy of Lake Charles; two sisters, Arlene Perioux Mayfair of Houston, Texas, and Sheila Richard and her husband Mike of Cecilia; one grandchild, Cole Blanchard; and four step grandchildren, Seth Thibodeaux, Christopher Bergeron, Taylor Scoggin and Hannah Garritt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Ann Allemond Perioux; and a sister, Denise Marie Perioux

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers were Ricky Perioux, Carol Blanchard, Marshall Blanchard, Taylor Scoggin, Brandon Farmahini and Connor Richard.

Honorary pallbearers were Casey and Cole Blanchard.

Miranda’s family would like to extend special thanks to Judith Crowder with Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care and attention given to her during her time of need.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.

Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
