Interment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Father Michael Delcambre officiated the funeral Mass.
Mavis was a faithful parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church for many years.
She loved to read, plant flowers, and take care of her plants. Mavis was a fantastic cook and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Dana Matthew Theriot, of Baton Rouge; her daughter, Renée Theriot Guilbeau, and her husband, Richard, of Katy, Texas; four sisters, Sue B. Hulin, of St. Martinville, Ruby B. Johnson, of Nashville, Tenn., Ruth B. Douet, of Cecilia, and Hazel B. Latiolais, of Henderson; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Guilbeau, Reagan Guilbeau and Riley Guilbeau.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Theriot; a daughter, Ashley Benoit; her parents, René and Leota Huval Benoit; two sisters, Stella Latiolais and Marion Tauzin; and a brother, Chester Benoit.
Pallbearers were Richard Guilbeau, Logan Hyatt, Paul Marks, Al Fuselier, Francis Hebert and Jim Hebert.
Honorary pallbearer was Russell Tauzin.
Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
