Breaux Bridge – Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel for Lorraine Calais Pontiff, 89, who passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at her residence after a brief illness.

Father Ed Degeyter officiated at the funeral service.

Entombment followed at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 - Mausoleum.

Lorraine was born on March 5, 1921, to Albert and Stella Dugas Calais of Cecilia, where she was raised, along with her 14 siblings.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Rufus J. Pontiff of Parks; her daughter, Linda P. Martinez of Parks; her sister, Lena C. Cormier of Breaux Bridge; six grandchildren, Scott Martinez, Chip Martinez, Brock Menard, Kolin Menard, Tara M. Berard and Camron Menard; and seven great-grandchildren, Brooks Martinez, Brett Martinez, Tyler Martinez, Hayden Menard, Treylen Berard, Gavin Lasseigne and Jace Menard.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Pontiff; her daughter, Bonnie Pontiff Menard; her parents; nine brothers, Louis, Clay, Sidney, Wade, Wilton, Joseph, Shirley, Allen and Rene Calais; and four sisters, Marie Guilbeau, Agnes LeBlanc, Cecile Calais and Louise Calais.

A Rosary was recited at 2 p.m. on Monday by Deacon Marcel “Butch” Hebert.

Pallbearers were Scott Martinez, Chip Martinez, Brock Menard, Kolin Menard, Camron Menard and Brooks Menard.

Honorary pallbearers were Tyler Martinez and Brett Martinez.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge was in charge of arrangements.
