Parks – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Louis Roman Catholic Chapel, Highway 347, for Jacqueline Marie Lyons Dauphine, 60, who passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012, at Jennings American Legion Hospital.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Louis Chapel from 7 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.

A rosary will be recited Saturday morning.

Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Nicholas G. Potier and Rodney Potier.

Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.

Jackie was born to Josephine Mildred Thibodeaux Lyons and Herman Joseph Lyons Sr. in Crowley, Louisiana. She attended and graduated from elementary school at St. Theresa Catholic School and Crowley High School in Crowley. She furthered her education at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Fort Worth Christian College, Crowley Trade School, Job Corps, Guthrie, Okla.; Delta Business College, Lafayette, La.; and University of New Orleans, New Orleans, La.

While in the convent, Jackie worked at the Lafon Nursing Home and the Lafon Child Care Center. After leaving the convent, she worked at Martin Mills as a crossing guard for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Department, St. Martinville Guest Home, and in the cafeteria at Parks Primary School.

When she was well, she attended St. Louis Catholic Church in Parks, and worked with several church organizations.

She was a resident of Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh at the time of her death. She was loved by all and will be missed tremendously.

She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Heredia Ann (Jeremy) Dauphine of Parks; three sisters, Cynthia (Milton) Lyons-Jackson of Lafayette, Mildred (Leo Sr.) L. Monroe of Houston, Texas, and Magdalene (Rodney) L. Potier of Parks; a foster sister, Zelmae (Rufus) Coleman of Omaha, Neb.; one foster brother, Charles Perkins of Lafayette; a devoted sister-in-law, Delphine Briggs Lyons of Abbeville; an aunt, Anna Mae Thibodeaux of Port Arthur, Texas; nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and numerous relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David James Dauphine; her parents; and her brother, Herman Joseph Lyons Jr.

Pallbearers will be Leo Monroe Sr., Nicholas G. Potier, Herman J. Lyons III, Conrad Allen Lyons, Jacoty Potier, Gregory Thibodeaux Jr., Karl Blanchard and Gus Monroe Jr.
