Catahoula – Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, August 12, 2010, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Edward E. Thibodeaux, 75, who passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment followed at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Reader was Russ Gunter.

Edward was dedicated to working. He cherished spending time with his family and especially his beloved dogs, Titan and Shelly. He loved cooking for his family every weekend. He enjoyed restoring his 1960 Chevrolet Impala and loved carpentry work which he used to build and repair his rent houses. He was an avid Horticulturist and an Usher at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Catahoula.

Edward held a 500 ton Unlimited Masters License as a boat captain, which was his lifelong career. Over 50 years ago he started working with his friend and boss, Donald Hingle. Also he worked for the Popich Brothers, Roy Breaux, IMCO, IMM, Oil and Gas Marine, and Aries Marine Company as a boat captain.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Bourque Thibodeaux of Catahoula; his sons, Keith Thibodeaux (Bonnie) and Brian Thibodeaux, all of Catahoula; his daughter, Lisa Bernard (Lonnie) of Catahoula; his brother, Richard Thibodeaux of New Iberia; his sisters, Mercedes Fisette of Cecilia, Marella Lanerie of Catahoula and Louella Bijeaux of Catahoula; his grandchildren, Lacy Bernard, Shantell Primeaux, Amber Bernard, Bethany Babineaux, Seth, Gavin and Kailey Thibodeaux; and his great-grandchildren, Ashley, Cori and Allison Bertrand.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alcibiade and Adea Thibodeaux Thibodeaux; and his brothers, Ralph and Harry Lee Thibodeaux.

A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Pallbearers were Brian Thibodeaux, Keith Thibodeaux, Lonnie Bernard, Seth Thibodeaux, Gavin Thibodeaux, Jake Primeaux, Ryan Melancon and Cory Babineaux.

The family would like to thank Lafayette General’s 7th floor ICU, especially his nurse, Trevor.
