Educator, principal

PORT BARRE – Services for long-time principal and educator John Dupre, Sr. will be Monday. He died June 22 at age 87.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II whose service included the Battle of the Bulge. He became principal of Port Barre High in 1955. As a teacher, he began the FFA chapter there.

Survivors include his wife Norma and five children.

Arrangements are by Martin & Castille, Lafayette.

Former police juror, aldeman

WHITE CASTLE – Services for cane farmer and cattle rancher Lee “Pechon” Aucoin, Sr. will be Monday. He died June 22 at age 86.

He was a former Iberville police juror and White Castle alderman and member of the board of White Castle Fertilizer Corp. and Iberville Bank.

Survivors include his wife Jazenette and four children.

Arrangements are by Ourso.

Pediatrician, health official

MONROE – Services will be Monday for long-time pediatrician and state health official Dr. Ruth Vingielio. She died June 22 at age 88.

She was in private practice for 18 years in West Virginia before joining E.A. Conway Memorial Hospital in Monroe. She was Region 8 director of the Louisiana State Health Department when she retired.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter.

Retired US. Army officer, battery companytowner

BATON ROUGE – Services for retired U.S. Army officer and battery company owner Robert Daniels will be Monday. He died June 23 at age 74.

He was a retired lieutenant colonel and was an owner of Daniell Battery Manufacturing Co. throughout most of his career.

Survivors include his wife Lyndagayle and two sons.

Coach, teacher, SLU student body president

AMITE – Services for long-time teacher and coach Marguerite McClendon will be Monday. She died June 22 at age 88.

She was a teacher and coach at Amite High for 41 years. Her basketball teams won numerous championships and she also coached other sports.

She was the first female president of the student body at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Arrangements are by McKneely.

Chemist, Olinkraft exec

MONROE – Services for chemist and Olinkraft executive Dr. Thomas Zenter will be Monday. He died June 22 at age 85.

He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He retired from Olinkraft as vice president of research and development.

Survivors include his wife Jean, two sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Mulhearn.

Lighthouse, navigation device expert

NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Saturday for civil engineer Frank Mineo. He died June 23 at age 82.

Ke was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and worked for nearly 50 years with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Orleans Levee Board. he was recognized for his engineering expertise on the building and maintenance of Coast Guard stations, lighthouses, channel markers and other navigation aids.

Survivors include his wife Mary and seven children.
