Busineswoman

SHREVEPORT – Services for businesswoman Glenna Leaderbrand will be Saturday. She died May 21 at age 94.

She and her late husband Ralph established multiple business ventures including Electrified Water Co., White Shield Water Co. and Leaderbrand Industries (real estate, banking and oil and gas production).

Survivors include two daughters.

Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Preservationist

COVINGTON – Services for preservationist Mertie Barnes will be Saturday. She died May 23 at age 97.

She was active in retaining the history of her hometown, Hammond by establishing a historic district there. She was instrumental in saving Magnolia Mound Plantation in Baton Rouge from destruction, having it restored and placed on the National Historic Register and did similar work to retain Grace Memorial Episcopal Church in Hammond.

Survivors include two daughters.

Arrangements are by E.J. Fielding.

Decorated aviator

BATON ROUGE – Services will be Saturday for decorated aviator Lt. Col. John Jolissaint, Sr., whose combat career spanned from World War II to Vietnam. He died May 23 at age 95.

An all-state football player at Catholic High, he was a 28-year Air Force officer who held the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal (three awards and other decorations.

Survivors include his wife Joyce, three sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Rabenhorst East.

Research official

BATON ROUGE – Services will be Saturday for cancer research official Penny Kolich. She died May 22 at age 69.

She was vice president of research at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Research Center and previously was director of the Baton Rouge Tumor Registry.

Survivors include her husband Charles, two sons and two daughters.

Arrangements are by Resthaven.
