Long-time educator

CARENCRO – Services for long-time educator Simon Stout will be Wednesday. He died April 15 at age 68.

He was a teacher and reading specialist before becoming assistant principal of Carencro Elementary. He was principal of Ossun Elementary for 17 years.

Survivors include his wife Geraldine and a son.

Arrangements are by Melancon.

Womens activist

VENTRESS – Services for womens activist Myria Andre-Martin will be Saturday. She died March 25 at age 70.

She served women in need for three decades and was founder of Myriam’s House and Connections for Life, transitional housing and re-entry programs serving women coming from prison, treatment facilities, shelters and other referral agencies.

Survivors include her husband Larry and a son.

Banker, businessman

MONROE – Services will be Thursday for businessman and banker O.D. Westbrook. He died April 16 at age 91.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a founding director of First American Bank, which is now Regions Bank. He was a director 34 years. His company, Standard Enterprises, was in construction and land development in several states. He retired from its board in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter.

Arrangements are by Kilpatrick.
