Catahoula – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Darryl Wayne “LaLa” Melancon Sr., 56, at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Rita’s Catholic Church with Fr. Richard Fabre officiating.

Interment will be at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Dion Hall. The hall will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday until service time.

A native of Lafayette and resident of St. Martinville, Mr. Melancon passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mr. Melancon was an avid pool player who played in several leagues and trips to Las Vegas for the APA Pool League. He enjoyed cooking, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Darryl Wayne “ToTo” Melancon Jr. and his wife Misty of Loreauville; his daughter, Dawn Melancon Theriot of Catahoula; six grandchildren, Lon Paul Theriot Jr., Trayton John Theriot, Austin James Melancon, Cameron Jude Melancon, Gannon Michael Theriot and Addyson Irene Theriot; his mother, Barbara Ann Dugas of Parks; five brothers, Nathan Melancon Sr. and Patrick Melancon Sr. of Loreauville, Lawrence Melancon Jr. of Parks, Leland Melancon Sr. of Coteau Holmes and Isaac Dore of St. Martinville; and four sisters, Rita M. LeBlanc and Christine Melancon of Parks, Amanda Melancon of Erath and Samantha Dore of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Melancon Sr.; and his wife, Irene M. Melancon.
