BATON ROUGE – As a tropical wave continues to develop and move toward the Gulf Coast region, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources Secretary Scott Angelle is advising state businesses and residents ensure they have an emergency supply of fuel. The precise location and timing of any potential landfall, as well the future intensity of the storm, are uncertain, but Angelle recommends that residents make sure they have enough fuel in the event that the need arises. Filling up tanks on vehicles and generators now, as well as purchasing fuel to have in reserve, can save time later in the event of a last-minute rush in the face of a potentially worsening storm system.



"Having a rush for fuel in the last hours before a major storm hits creates more problems for those need fuel and those who supply it - taking steps now means being able to pick a convenient time to get what is needed in a calmer environment," Angelle said. "If it turns out that the extra fuel is not needed for the current weather concern, it is ready for the next time you do need it."
