Breaux Bridge – Cecilia Jr. High claimed the team championship trophy at the St. Martin Parish Relays held here on April 4.

Outstanding track performer Raymond Calais led the CJH squad, setting new parish records in the 100 and 200 dashes and anchoring the record-breaking 4X100 relay team.

Calais was clocked at 11.18 in the 100, bettering the 11.54 record that was set way back in 1988 by BB’s Craig Jones.

The Cecilia speedster broke his own one-year old record of 23.93 in the 200, clocking a 22.8 last week.

The CJH 4X100 relay team won the event in 46.38, shaving almost one second off the old record of 45.07 set in 1985 by a BBJH team consisting of Craig Roberts, Wyman Dick, Rodney Vallier and Lavin Jones.

BBJH’s Rubin Hypolite was named the meet’s outstanding field performer. He won the long jump event and placed third in both the high jump and triple jump.

Breaux Bridge Jr. High finished second in the team standings. St. Martinville Jr. High did not compete in this year’s parish meet.
