And there will be a dance floor for the dancers.
Gary Simon and Ricky Douet did a great job putting this show together.
When the bands change, Brazos Huval will have his fiddle students playing. Want fiddle or guitar lessons? Go for one of the best teachers, call Brazos (781-6412).
Music will continue at 6 p.m. when Al Berard and his amazing group Reflx will take the stage. At 8 p.m. our own wonderful and very talented Joe Douglas will play, and at 10 p.m. Travis Matte and the King Pins will close the show. At midnight there will be a fireworks show on the river.
There will be drinks and food. Bring your chairs.
The proceeds from this event will go to help the Butte La Rose Fire Department and The Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel.
On Monday, July 11, the Breaux Bridge American Legion Post 133 re-elected Post Commander Eric Courville. His wife Missy was re-elected president of Women’s Auxillary Unit 133. This night was the American Legion’s annual installation pour tout les officier. Post Commander Courville led the ceremony. Also participating was V.F.W. Commander Ames Cormier, and guest speaker was 3rd District Commander Tony L. Betts from Kaplan.
There were several members visiting from other out of town posts. Certificates of recognition and appreciation were given to some members. Their Cajun food is always delicious.
I was given a certificate of appreciation by Post Commander Courville. I participate in their annual Memorial Day Ceremony and sing the National Anthem au Cajun. I am a member of the Women’s Auxillary, and I thank everyone there for seeing me worthy.
Beyond the call of duty: I often mention salt of the earth, well the volunteer firemen from the Butte La Rose fire department are just that, and also the Arnaudville V.F.W. They made a large food donation. Well, the Butte La Rose volunteers got together and scrounged their own nickels and dimes and went out and bought as much extra groceries as was afforded. They bagged it all and spread the word up and down the road for the residents to come by and pick up their welcome back home gifts.
So at the welcome home fundraiser this weekend, y’all say hey and thanks to our fire department folks with the big hearts.
The generous individuals are Donnye Thomas, Desiree Thomas, Wes Romero, Carlton Boudreaux, Matt Breaux, Greg Domingue, Jerry Bellard and Lisa Boudreaux. Bien merci à tout.
I wrote a great patriotic song “Papa America’s Turned Upside Down” and I’ve joined The Tea Party of Lafayette. I can be seen on YouTube singing the song, it is number 12. The Tea Party has it listed on their website. I’m getting strong feedback and I’m so happy.
Hope it rains on your face, in your fields, and in your yard. Amètie and have a great day.
Bien merci, bonne journée, Cousine Hélène, 228-1714 helenboudreaux@juno.com, www.helenboudreaux.org.
