Lafayette – Members of the Beta Rho Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi observed their 54th Founder’s day anniversary at Guidry’s Reef Restaurant in Lafayette.

Louella Champagne led the members in reciting the Opening Ritual. Arleen Oubre welcomed everyone and conducted a brief business meeting. The Founder’s Day Pledge was recited by Yvette Greig. Prior to the reading, she lit three candles, reciting the words “Beta, Sigma, Phi.”

Grace before the meal was led by Lynnie Bienvenu. Betty Dunham read the message from international and announced the 2011-12 theme, “Building our Future on Traditions.”

Arleen Oubre presented awards and gift cards to everyone in attendance and thanked each member for their help throughout the year. Shirley Fuselier and Betty Dunham won door prizes. Yvette Greig presented Elaine Case, this year’s Valentine’s Queen, with the Valentine girl pin.

Reggie Maraist presented Arleen Oubre with the Girl of the Year pin. The President’s Gavel Pin was presented to Arleen Oubre by incoming president, Shirley Fuselier. Vice president Betty Dunham presented a gift to Arleen for a job well done during her year as president.

Members exchanged gifts and secret pals were revealed.

Elaine Case was in charge of having members draw new secret pals for the coming year. Committee assignments were handed out by Shirley Fuselier.

After a delicious meal was enjoyed by Louella Champagne, Arleen Oubre, Yvette Greig, Lynnie Bienvenu, Betty Dunham, Reggie Maraist, Shirley Fuselier, Elaine Case, and Bobbie Theriot, Charlotte Chataigner led the members in a closing ritual.
