Atchafalaya Basin – Investigators with the St. Martin and Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Offices apprehended two alleged camp burglars.

SMSO received reports of 13 camp burglaries in the Lake Chicot, Phillips Canal and Bayou Sorrel area of the Atchafalaya Basin.

The investigators arrested Steven Thibodeaux, 23, of Plaquemine, and Tracey Lee Burgess, 45, of Grosse Tete on the following charges:

•13 counts of criminal trespass

•13 counts of simple burglary

•one count of second degree kidnapping.

Several of the items stolen were recovered and returned to their owners.

Burgess’s ex-wife was being held against her will for several days and was present during the burglaries. She sustained minor injuries inflicted by Burgess during the time she was held.
