Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Fr. Neil McNeill officiated the funeral Mass.
Scriptures were read by Callie Collet and Lachelle Beltran.
Gifts were brought to the altar by his granddaughters.
Mr. Collet was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country for five years in the United States Army, and was a member of the American Legion.
He worked as an insurance salesman for Automotive and Riverside Life Insurance for 25 years before his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Collet enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
His most treasured moments in his life were those spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Vivian L. Collet of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Louis R. Collet and his wife, Janel, of Breaux Bridge; and Tony W. Collet, of Houston, Texas; eight daughters, Billie C. Elmer and her husband, Victor; Donella C. Duncan, Ruby C. Guidry and her husband, Ronnie; Mary C. Guidry and her husband, Brian; Darlene Collet; Jan C. Webre and her husband, Toby; Jill C. Zimmerman and her husband, Guy; and Candy C. Hamilton and her husband, Ronnie, all of Breaux Bridge; 27 grandchildren and 28 great -grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lorenza Dugas Collet; two sisters, Lucille Latiolais and Edaise Guidry; his brother, Will Collet; and his son-in-law, Dr. Billy Milton Duncan, EdD.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers were Mr. Collet’s grandsons. Pellerin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
