LE COEUR DE ST. MARTIN AWARD – Linda Guidry is the fourth recipient of the Le Coeur de St. Martin Award. This award is presented quarterly to an employee of St. Martin Hospital (SMH) who supports its mission, values and goals by displaying excellent teamwork and providing quality patient care that goes beyond what is expected. Linda has been offering friendly assistance to patients at SMH for 21 years.

The money, given each year, will be used to supplement existing programs, which serve the elderly in St. Martin Parish. YACHTS WELCOME – “La Bonne Vie,” a gentrified oyster lugger, exits the Keystone Lock bound for St. Martinville and the Acadian Memorial Festival. It was the first lock-through of a visiting vessel since St. Martin Parish Government took over operation of the century-old navigation lock from the Army Corps of Engineers several months ago. Lockmaster Calder Hebert (at left) says the parish is committed to opening upper Bayou Teche to marine tourism. There’s no charge to lock through.
