ABOUT HORSES — Sgt. T.J. Bergeron (center), animal control officer with the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office, was the featured speaker at the Sept. 26 meeting of the St. Martinville Rotary Club. He told Rotarians of the growing problem in the parish regarding abandoned and/or mistreated horses. Welcoming Sgt. Bergeron were club president C. Andrepont, president of the Acadiana Home School Key Club, said the club’s first meeting will be Aug. 31 at the Southside Library in Lafayette from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Prosper, a member of the St. Martinville City Council, spoke about the upcoming Tour du Teche canoe race and Kiwanis participation in the race.
