Cecilia – Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church for Louis J. Calais, 88, who passed away on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Opelousas General Hospital.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Fr. Floyd Calais will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass. The reader will be Yvonne C. Huval.
Mr. Calais was a veteran of World War II, having honorably served his country in the United States Army, and was retired with the United States Postal Service. He loved singing, playing guitar and the piano. He enjoyed spending time with his family and good friends.
Survivors include four nieces, Genevieve Hardy Angelle and Yvonne Calais Huval, both of Cecilia, Rose Marie Hardy Rivette of Arnaudville, and Olivia Calais Bienvenu of St. Martinville; one nephew, Charles C. Calais of Vicksburg, Miss.; and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onezine J. and Laura Hamilton Calais; six brothers, Wesley Calais, Percy Calais, Dean Calais, Paul “Callan” Calais, Walter Calais, and Francis “Pim” Calais; and three sisters, Genieve Calais, Hazel Calais and Wilda Calais Hardy.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Charles Calais, Kenny Angelle, Gary Angelle, John Angelle, Dean Angelle and Randy Angelle.
Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Angelle and Will Angelle.
