$4M project to replace three timber bridges
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that beginning today (Wed., Feb. 21) construction will commence on a $4,146.124.20 bridge replacement project along La. 321 (Hebert Ln.) from La. 351 (Ruth Bridge Hwy) to La. 347 (Poydras Hwy) in St. Martin Parish.
This project will consist of the following work:
•Removal of three existing timber bridges
•Installation of a new concrete slab span bridge
•Class II base course
•Asphalt concrete surfacing
•Installation of drainage structures and related work
Construction work is estimated to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.
As part of the project, Hebert Ln. will be closed at three separate locations to allow crews to remove and replace the existing bridge at three separate bridge sites. The road closure locations include the following:
Beginning at 7 a.m on Feb. 21 Hebert Ln. will be closed at Location 1, .70 miles west of Poydras Hwy, to thru traffic, including emergency vehicles. The road closure at Location 1 is estimated to reopen to traffic in April.
Road closures will be limited to one bridge site at a time and will be continuous from one location to the next. A detour route will be posted for each of the road closure locations, respectively.
Notifications for road closures at Location 2 and Location 3 will be announced at a later date.
The project is estimated to be complete in November.
