Bond sale leads St. Martin School Board’s agenda

Breaux Bridge – The sale of $10 million in general obligation bonds heads up the agenda for the St. Martin School Board’s February meeting. The session is set to begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Instructional Center, 111 Courville Street in Breaux Bridge.
Proceeds from the bonds will be used for repair work and capital improvements of schools throughout the parish.
The agenda also includes a number of legal matters to be considered in executive (secret) session.
In addition to a routine issues, today’s agenda includes:
•Executive (secret) session to discuss a) litigation entitled Kesla Young vs. St. Martin School Board; b) litigation entitled Shena Taylor vs. School Board; c) litigation entitled Joyce Calais vs. School Board; d) litigation entitled Evelyn Barras vs. School Board; e) litigation entitled Leola M. Wiltz vs. School Board; f) ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct by former employee.
•Consider Finance Committee recommendations regarding roof repair at Cecilia High, workers’ compensation fund, group health fund and sales tax fund.
•Approve substantial completion for bus camera systems.
•Consider appointment of Kolder, Champagne, Slaven & Co. LLC as auditors for the two years ending July 30, 2011.
•Consider the proposed 2010-11 school calendar.
•At board members’ request, discuss a) concerns about board perception and reality about present and future problems in the school system (Rodney Ledoux); consider purchase of three acres of land adjacent to Cecilia Jr High (Mark Hebert); action taken on two employees at Cecilia Jr. High (Hebert); and Breaux Bridge Jr. High consulting contract (Richard Poirier).
•Declare Feb. 5 “Saints Day.”
•Under personnel action, consider renewal of the following administrative contracts:
