‘Cousine Hélène’ is CFMA’s Female Vocalist of the Year & Songwriter of the Year

Teche News' Helen Boudreaux also penned the Song of the Year

NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST, traiteur, former truck-driver, Helen Boudreaux is even better-known as a Cajun and country-western singer and songwriter. The “Butte La Rose Et Les Entourage” writer was named Female Vocalist of 2009 by the Cajun French Music Association. Her song “My Cajun Roots Run Deep” won Song of the Year and she was named Songwriter of the Year – mighty near a sweep!

Lafayette – Songstress and Teche News correspondent Helen Boudreaux took home top honors in the Cajun French Music Association’s “Le Cajun Award and Festival” held here recently.

Boudreaux was named Female Vocalist Of The Year and Songwriter of the Year in the Grammy-style awards ceremony held at Blackham Coliseum.

She was also honored for penning the Song of the Year, “My Cajun Roots Run Deep,” performed by Ray Landry with Boudreaux.

The three-day festival features an awards ceremony honoring the best in Cajun music and Cajun musicians and includes a two-day dance festival with award winning Cajun bands providing the music.
