The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is now accepting registration for Hunter Education Classes which will be held the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Academy at 1815 Terrace Highway, La. Hwy. 96, west of town. The classes are scheduled as follows: •Session 1 – Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 9-11; 5-8 p.m.

The question of whether there should be a Willie Francis Drive in town was tabled by the City Council Monday, July 21, ostensibly in dispute over which street should get the honor.

The new state-of-the-art library is still a work in progress but its next-door neighbor is back up and running. The venerable old red-brick St. Martin Parish Agricultural Building had to sacrifice its meeting room to the new library’s expanded footprint, but in its place is a high-tech auditorium, which is now open for business.
